Western Global's MD-11F is back in action!

Hey guys, just saw that Western Global Airlines is flying their MD-11F fleet again. Seems like they had one of their birds, N781SN, doing some serious flying recently. Started with a test flight from Fort Myers to Columbus, then made its way to Norfolk, and even hit up Rota and Sigonella before landing in Djibouti. Busy schedule!

It's good to see these MD-11Fs back in the sky. They have fourteen of these in their fleet, though only this one seems to be active right now. I always thought the MD-11F was a cool plane with its three engines and all. A bit of a workhorse, don't you think?

I wonder what took them out of service for a bit. Maintenance issues, maybe? Or just part of the usual fleet rotation? Anyone got any insights on why they might've paused operations with them or what the future plans are for the rest of the MD-11Fs in their fleet?

Anyway, pretty cool that they're up and running again. Would love to hear your thoughts on this and if you've seen any of these MD-11Fs in action lately!
I love the MD-11F! Those three-engine jets have such a unique look. I heard that Western Global had some maintenance delays and maybe some crew shortages, which might've slowed things down. Not surprised they're flying again though-those planes are reliable. I've seen a few at Fort Myers, and it's always a treat. Wonder how long they'll keep them going with newer aircraft coming in. Anyone know if they plan to bring more back into regular rotation?
I think it might've been related to some maintenance checks. The MD-11F is getting on in years, so they probably need more TLC. I remember seeing an MD-11F at an airshow once, and the sound of those engines was something else! Western Global's got a decent setup, so maybe they're just being cautious with their fleet. Anyone know how long they plan to keep these in the air? Curious if they're considering any newer aircraft for replacement.
Yeah, the MD-11F's three-engine setup is definitely iconic. I heard they paused some flights due to parts supply issues. Not surprising given the age of these planes. I remember catching sight of one flying over while I was out hiking, and it was such a distinctive silhouette against the sky. Wonder if Western Global plans to bring more of them back into service soon or if they're focusing on newer aircraft. Anyone know if they've been looking into updating their fleet?
