So, I was reading about the UK's situation with their F-35Bs and it seems like they're in a bit of a pickle. They've invested a ton in this program, being the only Tier One partner and all, but now it looks like they can't actually fill their new aircraft carriers with enough jets. Right now, they've got only 48 F-35Bs, and one was lost in an accident. Which means they can't fully staff both the HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales with the 36-40 jets each needs.
Honestly, it's kind of surprising given how much they've invested. I wonder if they'll end up buying more F-35s in the future or if they'll just work with what they've got. Do you guys think it's a budget issue, or maybe there's something else going on? I know these jets are expensive, but you'd think they would have planned for this.
Would love to hear what you all think about why the UK is cutting back and what it means for their naval power. Are there other aircraft they could use to fill the gap, or is this kind of it for now?
