Shooting at Sydney (SYD) - Best Time for Golden Hour Shots?

Started by AZ747 5 hours ago 2 replies 14 views
Hey all! So I've been trying to get some killer golden hour shots at Sydney Airport (SYD), and I'm wondering if any of you have tips on the best spots and times? I know the lighting can be amazing but also tricky depending on the time of year.

I've got a Nikon D7500 with a 70-300mm lens, which I think should be decent for getting those nice warm shots as planes take off or land. I'm mostly looking to capture those dramatic shadows and colors you get right before sunset.

Anyone have favorite spots around SYD they recommend? Or maybe some advice on settings to really nail those golden hues? Appreciate any tips or experiences you can share!
For golden hour at SYD, try the mound near the International Terminal. It's a pretty popular spot and gives a nice view of the runway for those takeoff and landing shots. Early sunset works best in late spring or early summer when the sun sets a bit further south. For settings, keep your ISO low to avoid noise, and maybe try f/8 for sharper shots. A circular polarizer can help with those warm hues, too. Have you tried shooting from the beach near the airport? It can give a cool perspective with the planes over the water.
