Delta Mixing It Up with Boeing 787s - Thoughts?

Hey everyone! So, I just read that Delta's decided to order 30 Boeing 787-10s, with options for 30 more. Pretty interesting move, considering how they've been leaning more towards Airbus recently with their A330-900s and A350s.

I guess they're not putting all their eggs in one basket, which seems smart given the current state of the industry. The 787-10s are mainly for shorter transoceanic routes, kinda like the A330-900s they already have, so maybe they're looking to balance out their fleet.

I think it's pretty cool that Delta's keeping their options open and not just sticking with one manufacturer. But it makes me wonder - why would they go for the 787-10 when they've got the A330-900 doing a similar job? Is it just about diversifying, or do they see something in the 787-10 that Airbus can't offer?

Any thoughts on how this might affect Delta's long-haul strategy? Or if this could mean anything for their competition with American and United? Let me know what you think!
Seems like a smart move for Delta. The 787-10 has a bit more capacity than the A330-900, so maybe they're thinking about routes where they need to pack in a few more passengers without going full jumbo. Also, having both Boeing and Airbus in the fleet gives them some flexibility with supply chain issues, which are still kinda shaky. I wonder if this means we'll see Delta opening up new routes or increasing frequency on existing ones. Anyone know how this might impact their crew training and maintenance logistics? Balancing two big manufacturers isn't always easy.
