Anyone used their Delta SkyMiles for domestic first class lately?

So I've been sitting on a pile of Delta SkyMiles and thinking about using them for a domestic first-class ticket. I've mostly used them for international flights in the past, but I'm curious about the value for shorter trips.

Has anyone here redeemed SkyMiles for first class within the U.S. recently? How was the availability? I'm looking at a potential trip from NYC to LAX but not sure if it's worth the miles or if I should just save them for another big overseas journey. Also, any tips on checking for better availability or timing when it comes to booking?

Would love to hear about your experiences or if you've got any tips on maximizing the value for domestic routes. Thanks!
Used my SkyMiles for a first-class trip from ATL to SEA a few months back. The availability was hit or miss, had to be flexible with dates. NYC to LAX might be similar. I noticed if you book closer to your travel date, sometimes the miles required go down, but it's a gamble. Also, check out Delta's flash sales; they pop up randomly. If you're not in a rush, waiting for a good deal might be worth it. What's your preferred airline for overseas trips if you're saving miles?
I used my SkyMiles for a first-class flight from JFK to LAX last year. Honestly, it was worth it for the comfort on a long domestic flight. The availability was a bit tricky-had to book about six months in advance to get the dates I wanted. One tip: check different times of the day. Sometimes the red-eye flights have more availability. If you're flexible with your schedule, you might find a sweet spot. Do you have specific dates in mind?
